Urmia Lake

Urmia Lake,  a salt lake in northwest Iran separating the provinces of West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan. Lake Urmia is the largest lake in the Middle East and the second largest salt lake on earth. It is located 4,183 feet above sea level, lat 37o to 38.5o N, long 45o to 46o E. It is approximately 140 km long in a north-south direction and about 85 km wide in its east-west extension with a surface area of 5,000 to 6,000 km2.
